The Shelltone Team's Review
Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Tofino opens the door to one of the last great wilderness areas of the North Pacific. Between the open ocean, scattered islands, temperate rainforests, and rich feeding grounds, this region offers an extraordinary environment where marine life thrives in remarkable diversity.
The waters of Clayoquot Sound are regularly visited by gray whales, humpback whales, orcas, and many other marine species. Every excursion is different, shaped by the movements of the animals, the tides, and the natural rhythms that define this unique coastal ecosystem.
We chose to feature Tofino Whale Centre for the quality of the experience it provides and for its small-group approach aboard an open boat. This close connection with the ocean allows visitors to fully experience the atmosphere of the Pacific while observing wildlife in its natural environment, accompanied by an experienced crew who share their knowledge of the region.
Beyond encounters with whales, these excursions offer an immersion into one of the last great wilderness regions of Canada's Pacific coast. A place where the ocean, the forests, and marine wildlife come together to create a landscape of exceptional character.
What We Particularly Appreciate Here
The feeling of being fully immersed in the wild Pacific. A destination that reminds us that some encounters with whales become even more meaningful when we feel ourselves to be part of the landscape.
