Each winter, the fjords of Northern Norway become the setting for one of the largest concentrations of marine life in the North Atlantic. Drawn by the immense herring schools that migrate into these waters, humpback whales and orcas also gather in the Arctic fjords to feed.
From Tromsø, these excursions offer the opportunity to search for these great marine predators in a spectacular environment of snow-covered mountains, deep fjords, and unique winter light. Conditions evolve throughout the season, and the areas where cetaceans can be found may shift, making each trip a true exploration of the living world.
We selected this team for their experience navigating these northern waters and the quality of the experience they provide. Thanks to the speed and comfort of their vessel, they are able to reach the areas where whales and orcas are most often found, while offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the spectacular landscapes of the Far North.
Beyond observing cetaceans, these excursions provide an opportunity to better understand the migrations that connect species, seasons, and territories. An experience that reminds us that marine life is constantly in motion and that the ocean’s great gatherings are often the result of journeys spanning thousands of miles.
Qué significa ser “seleccionado por Shelltone”
Todos los operadores que aparecen aquí han sido seleccionados porque cumplen con el Código de Conducta de Shelltone.
Nunca se se acerca a los cetáceos a una velocidad superior a 5 nudos.
Siempre hay que acercarse a los animales por un lado que siga su dirección de desplazamiento, nunca cruzándose en su camino.
Nunca se debe acercarse a las madres con crías.
Estos principios constituyen la base de la Carta de Shelltone. En nuestra selección también tenemos en cuenta la actitud general del operador, la calidad de las indicaciones que ofrece y su capacidad para reconocer cuándo la decisión más respetuosa es no acercarse.
No se trata de recomendaciones. Son los requisitos que deben cumplir todos los operadores seleccionados por Shelltone.
