The waters of Skjálfandi Bay are regularly visited by humpback whales, minke whales, blue whales, sperm whales, white-beaked dolphins, and many other species. This exceptional richness has helped make Húsavík one of the world’s most iconic destinations for whale watching.

Cetaceans are never approached at more than 5 knots.
Animals are always approached from an angle that follows their direction of travel, never by cutting across them.
Mothers with calves are never approached.
