The waters of the Lacaze-Duthiers Canyon are among the most teeming areas of the northwestern Mediterranean. Several species of dolphins regularly frequent this region, where currents, underwater topography, and biological diversity create conditions conducive to their presence throughout the year.

We chose to feature Marea Azul for the quality of the experience it provides and for the emphasis placed on understanding the animals being observed. Accompanied by a marine mammal naturalist, visitors are invited to discover dolphins in their natural environment, gain a better understanding of their behavior, and observe how they interact with the ecosystem around them.

Before departure, a presentation on the underwater canyon and the species likely to be encountered helps visitors better understand this unique Mediterranean ecosystem. This approach enriches the experience and serves as a reminder that dolphin watching often begins with an understanding of the territory in which they live.

Beyond encounters with the animals, these excursions offer the opportunity to discover one of the most remarkable seascapes in the Mediterranean\u2014a place where the sea, the currents, and the landscape have long shaped the conditions that allow life to thrive.<\/p>\n

A respectful and intimate approach<\/h4>\n

Limited to 10 passengers, this expedition offers you an intimate and respectful experience, far from the crowds. This mindful approach ensures a moment of sharing and discovery with the utmost respect for the animals and their natural habitat.<\/p>\n

For over two hours, you\u2019ll set out from Cadaqu\u00e9s toward the waters of the Lacaze-Duthiers Canyon, searching for signs of marine life: birds, surface movements, changes in water color, fish, fins, blowholes, or leaps.<\/p>\n

Every outing is different. The sea changes, the animals move around, and sightings are never guaranteed. That\u2019s what makes every encounter unique.<\/p>\n

To preserve the quality of the experience, the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 10 people. This allows for a calmer, more personal, and more respectful atmosphere.<\/p>\n

On board, each participant is loaned a pair of binoculars so they can actively participate in the search for dolphins and marine wildlife.<\/p>\n

Spotting wildlife at sea requires attention: a fin, a leap, a flock of birds, surface activity, or a change in the water\u2019s color can all be the first signs of an animal\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n

The goal is simple: to make each outing a memorable experience for participants, but also a source of useful data to better understand and protect local marine life.<\/p>\n
