Observation of cetaceanswhales, dolphins and sperm whales in GuadeloupeA small group (max. 12 passengers). A more intimatesofter, in conscienceShare the experience!

All year round, in GuadeloupeIn the Agoa Sanctuary we see beautiful, year-round resident animals, sperm whales (which are whales), spotted dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and Fraser?s dolphins. We also meet pilot whales, pseudo-orcas, beaked whales and even orcas, among others, because there are more than 20 species of marine mammals living in the Agoa sanctuary where we work, on the leeward coast of Guadeloupe. The humpback whale is with us from December to the end of May.

We're going out day-to-dayWe are at sea for about three and a half hours, at 8am and sometimes at 12.30pm. We are at sea for about 3h30.

The departure is from the fishing port of Baille Argentbetween Deshaies and Pointe Noire (7 km from Deshaies towards Pointe Noire and 4 km from Pointe Noire towards Deshaies). At the pontoon of the boat gas station.

We are a association under the law of 1901, recognised as being of general interest for its scientific research on cetaceans and its environmental actions in the marine environment in the Agoa sanctuary in Guadeloupe.

Our guide Naëlformed by Pierre Lavagne de Castellan will take you to meet the cetaceans of the leeward coast of Guadeloupe using the techniques of the Shelltone Whale Project. You will then benefit from our experience, both to put all the chances on your side for cetacean watchingthat they are certain to be able to do so in the respect that is due to them.

We are setting up a geo-referenced database and acoustics of all cetaceans encountered on the leeward coast of Guadeloupe.

Your participation in our sea trips helps to finance our research in inter-species communication. We only take on board people who are in a good mood. Take a look at the animals we are currently seeing by clicking on the button below.

Dolphins, sperm whales, whales, orcas are numerous to come and swim near our home port, Baille-Argent, on the west coast of Guadeloupe

The Shelltone Whale Project has developed a cetacean approach protocol, which is applied on every trip to the whales, dolphins and sperm whales of Guadeloupe within the Agoa marine sanctuary.
Our observation protocol is governed by simple principles:

  • Our daily trips to the sea to carry out our research have enabled us to establish a climate of trust with the whales, sperm whales and dolphins of Guadeloupe, who alone decide to interact with humans in a calm, serene atmosphere.

  • On each trip, we use our hydrophone (underwater microphone) and we decipher the sounds heard in the sea, whale songs, sperm whale codas, dolphin whistles and pilot whales of Guadeloupe. These sounds, heard live, allow us to decide on the orientation of the boat to give us the best chance to observe the animals.

  • A unique experience, a scientific, ecological and educational approach, based on the principles of non-intrusion and mutual respect for the dolphins, sperm whales and whales of Guadeloupe.
